Columbia University Men's Basketball Volunteers

The Columbia men’s basketball team continued its relationship with New York City Christian Athletic League (NYCCAL) as they volunteered and help run a Clinic in the Bronx on April 22 and April 29. The players along with the Lions’ coaching staff ran skill stations over a three-hour period on each day and helped organize and run the tryouts for the organization’s recreational league.

This is the teams 5th straight year coming to the park.  This coming season the Lions team will be lead by Coach Engles and his staff.  We want to welcome them and wish them great success in this coming year and look forward to working alongside them over the next couple of years.

Organized by the NYCCAL and league president Edwin Santiago, the clinic’s mission is to give local children an opportunity to participate in a productive extra-curricular activity while gaining life values such as teamwork, responsibility, and trust.

“Edwin Santiago and Columbia basketball have built a great partnership in giving back to kids from his Bronx community,”  “These kids love basketball and were so excited to learn from our players. Since many of the kids attended games this year, they really looked up to our players, so it was nice to be able to give something back to them.”
