Former Harlem Globetrotter Speaks to NYCCAL Kids

On June 20th, 2015 Seth Franco was our Guest Speaker at our Annual Awards Banquet for our basketball program. On this day, we came together as a league to honor and celebrate the achievements of the boys in the league and what an honor it was to have Seth share his story with our kids. Seth Franco in 2003 became the first Caucasian Harlem Globetrotter since 1942! Now Seth travels the world inspiring others to "BOUNCE BACK" from hardship and "LIVE BIG" dreams! His message to our kids was just that. He told the kids that great things happen to people who never give up. He inspired the kids to stand firm, learn how to walk, and then run for your dreams. Seth spends the day talking with our kids and also teaching them some of the many tricks he learned with the basketball while he was hurt. It was a great day and were happy we had him spend the day with us.

More On Seth Franco

Achieving his dream of playing professional basketball came with many challenges. The biggest challenge came during his college career; Seth experienced a leg injury that crippled him. Facing surgery and rehab, he was told that his basketball dreams were over. Seth continued to believe in his dream and persevere. While recovering from his leg injury, Seth was unable to play basketball on his feet; he practiced with his hands, making the best of his situation. The basketball tricks he learned during his injury would later become the key to living out his dream! When back up on his feet; Seth had no idea where to begin pursuing his dream again. He continued to workout and his hand-eye-coordination grew faster and his tricks more amazing! Everywhere Seth played he started being noticed for his basketball tricks. Now Seth shares the stage with some of the biggest basketball stars in the world and now travels the world sharing his amazing story!!!
